Mississippi born and bred, raised in the foothills of Tennessee, I have the South embedded in me.
I live in a small town in the mountains with my husband, Michael, and three hound dogs, Neyland, Old Miss Belle, and Gunner. I love to write. Lord, I love to write. Almost as much as I love to talk.
My mother named me after two of the strongest women she knew, Katharine Hepburn and her great aunt. She said Katharine Hepburn was the epitome of grace and beauty. Aunt Lida Lake Owens’ family was responsible for founding the town where she grew up, with the help of a land grant from President Andrew Jackson.
I think this is important to mention because your name shows who you are.
Friday nights during the fall you can find me at the local high school football game, cheering on my husband and his team. Saturdays, I wear orange. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2007 with a degree in Journalism and Electronic Media with a concentration in Magazines.
